Unpacking Imposter Syndrome

It disproportionately affects more women than it does men - and not surprisingly it affects women of colour more.  Imposter Syndrome is a form of self-doubt and it manifests in the workspace. Find out more about it and how you can beat it.

Imposter syndrome is not about being humble or modest. The core of imposter syndrome is a deep-seated belief that you aren't good enough, a belief that often comes from trauma and/or sexism. It can come about because you are in a dysfunctional work environment but it can also happen if you don't have the right support in your everyday life.

You feel inadequate for reasons that have nothing to do with your current level of experience or knowledge. This critical inner voice is a normal part of being human, but it doesn’t need to get in the way of you achieving your goals.
